EMDR Intensives
Focused, extended sessions for meaningful progress in days or weeks — not months.
EMDR Intensives
Have you ever been in a session, beginning to open up on something important, and then the time is up? EMDR Intensives are designed to eliminate that interruption. Rather than 50-minute appointments spread across months, intensives condense the work into extended, focused sessions — giving your nervous system the uninterrupted time it needs to move through difficult material at depth.
This format is particularly effective for individuals who have done some prior therapeutic work, who have limited availability for weekly appointments, or who want to accelerate the healing process without sacrificing depth. Meaningful progress in days or weeks, rather than months or years.
I offer half-day and full-day intensive formats in-person in London, Ontario and virtually across Ontario, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia. Each intensive begins with a thorough assessment and is tailored to your history, goals, and readiness for the work.
Book a ConsultationThe Process
EMDR Intensives are built around the same eight-phase protocol as traditional EMDR therapy, but the structure is adapted to maximise the benefits of an intensive multi-day format. Here is what you can expect the process to look like.
I offer a free initial consultation to assess suitability and readiness, and to explore whether we are a good fit for your presenting concerns and schedule. This is also an opportunity to answer any questions you may have before committing to anything.
Before we begin, I conduct a thorough intake and assessment to understand your trauma history, goals, and readiness for intensive work. Together, we create a customised plan for the sessions, ensuring the process feels safe and manageable. This phase also includes developing coping strategies and grounding techniques to support you during and after the intensive.
Intensive sessions typically range from 2–6 hours per day, depending on your preferences and availability, with scheduled breaks to prevent overwhelm. These sessions allow for focused attention on processing specific traumatic memories or clusters of memories that contribute to current symptoms — anxiety, flashbacks, or emotional distress. The immersive format ensures enough time to make meaningful progress without the interruptions that occur in weekly therapy.
Throughout the intensive, scheduled breaks and time for reflection are built in to allow your brain to process what has been reprocessed. These breaks are essential to avoid emotional fatigue and help solidify the progress made during therapy.
After the intensive, I provide resources and strategies to help you integrate the work into your daily life. I can also arrange optional follow-up sessions to support continued healing. If you have multiple challenges to work through, ongoing intensive therapy is also available within this model.
